Hey everybody from OH

Hey guys. My name is Jonathan. I am from ohio and I have posted a couple of things on here a long time ago before I knew I should have introduced myself. I am currently working on my 82 chev 3/4 ton 4x4. It has a total of 11 inches of lift with 38x15.50 SSR's. I am putting a built 402bbc in and replacing all of the body panels except for the bed floor and cab. I am in the begining stages of painting the frame and axles. I am using eastwoods rust encapsulator and chassiss black. It seems to be working very well. I rebuilt the axles last year. I hope to be painting in March and then refinishing the interior. I have learned a lot from this site already. It is an awesome place. I am going to have a lot of parts for sale soon. I will try to keep up with the board but I am a full time student, job, kid, and wife guy. I will keep giving progress reports and pics to go with them. I am trying to post pics with this but it is saying my file is too large. I have to figure that one out. I hope to learn a lot from everyone and have a good time talking. Thanks.

Hello from SD. Looking forward to pics of your ride, sounds like it will be great.

BIG82 07-25-2005 10:16 AM

I was wondering if anyone could tell me what to do about my pics file size being too big to post here. I don't know how I can do it. Any help would be great.

Yamaha74 07-25-2005 12:24 PM

I had the same problem a couple of weeks ago. My pictures are in microsoft photo editor. I went to the picture that I wanted to display on this site. The picture opened up in microsoft photo editor. Then at the top of the page you click on image, then go to resize, then change units to pixels, then change width to 640 and height to 426. That is what worked for me.

By the way, I am also in Ohio. I am currently looking for a 1973 - 1987 chevy/GMC truck to restore, but am having a hard time finding one. Maybe we can get together sometime so I can see your truck and learn a little about the restoring process.

Yamaha74 07-26-2005 10:36 AM

I live in Johnstown, OH. Do you know where it is at? Where are you located?

BIG82 07-26-2005 12:31 PM

It looks like you are on the west side of columbus. I am in springfield between dayton and columbus. GO BUCKS!! Are you looking for a 4x4 or a 2wd truck? There is a 4x4 short bed under truck for sale on this site. Only 1000 bucks. Check it out. Also there is an 87 2wd in my local paper today for 1500.

Yamaha74 07-26-2005 01:40 PM

I am actually about 30 minutes East of Columbus. I work in Dublin, right next to tuttle mall, if you know where that is at. Actually I was supposed to race yesterday at the Clark County fair in Springfield, but couldn't. I race motocross.

I am looking for a 4x4 truck. Where is the one for $1000?

BIG82 07-26-2005 02:19 PM

Go up to the menu at the top of the page. Click on trucks for sale and then 73-87. It is one of the first ones. Looks like a good deal. I was just asking my wife how to register to race in the motorcross race at the fair. I have a cr 125 and my brother in law has a cr 250. I have never raced before but I figured that would be a fun safer ride than any. Do you practice somewhere? I would love to find a track to practice on.

Yamaha74 07-26-2005 02:48 PM

I used to be just a woods rider for fun with a occasional hare scramble every once in a while, which is a 2 hour race in the woods. Last year I started racing motocross. I raced a lot of the fair races last year and a few this year, but it has got a little expensive. We just had a baby boy 3 months ago so I have to watch what I spend this year.

To race you have to be a member of the AMA which is $39 a year and a member of district 11 which is $16 a year. In Ohio there is 2 districts. They are broken out by the Northern and Southern part of the State. District 11 is the Southern half of the State and District 12 is the Northern part of the State. So which ever district you live in is the district you have to be a member of. Springfield is in District 11. You can sign up for both of these at the first race you attend. Those are just once a year. To race it ranges from $18 - $25 per race. Depending on your age and skill there could be 3 or 4 different classes you can enter on a 125. I race a YZ450F. Here is a couple of websites for you to look at for the race schedules. (www.americanmx.com and www.district11ama.com) The first one is the Ohio fair series schedule and the second one is the district 11 schedule. There is a fair race coming up on August 6th that would be close to you in Wapakoneta at the Auglaize County fair. I will probably be there.

There are a few practice tracks that I go to every once in a while. But I am lucky enough to have one down the street from my house. Some buddies and I go to Wayne National Forest, Sommerset, and to Vinton County to ride for fun a lot. These are all open to the public. Where do you ride? You and your brother in law are more then welcome to come ride with us sometime. It would be great to add someone with the same interest to our riding group.

I found that truck. Do you know if you can change the bed from a step side to a fleet side? Does it bolt right up? I don't want a step side bed.

BIG82 07-26-2005 03:04 PM

Yes, a shortbed fleetside will bold right up to that. This is crazy but I have a 5 1/2 month old and he is awesome. Some day my truck will be his (no matter what his mom says). That would be awesome to go riding. How far you think it is from here? I bet that yz is awesome. My brother in law has the yamaha 450 4 wheeler also. That thing is bad.

Yamaha74 07-26-2005 03:30 PM

I am going to send you a private message.

TRUCKGUY 07-27-2005 12:03 AM

I thought I would show you all what it looked like before I tore it up. I had just got done putting 3/4 ton axles on and a 8 in all spring kit. In these pics I had 35x15.50 sx's which were crap and I took them back and got the 38.15.50 ssr's which are awesome. I put new brakes and new manual hubs on when I did this. Luckily they had 4:10 gears already. Might add 4:56 someday.

Yamaha74 07-28-2005 09:57 AM

BIG82, I like the looks of the rims and tires. The truck looks good just like that. Did you find those pictures I told you about yesterday on 73-87 message board? Also that is a nice pole barn. Is that yours?

BIG82 07-30-2005 08:44 AM

Actually, those tires are 35x25.50 Super Swamper SX's. They did not ride good at all. I took them back and got 38x15.50 SSR's. Those are the radials and they ride awesome. That is my father in law's place where I did my work last year. I did look at the pics and the frame looks to be really rusty. I would probably pass or get him lower on price.

Yamaha74 08-01-2005 08:28 AM

Did you look at the one on ebay that is located in Toledo, OH? Item # 4564888791. He said the trans works great and the 4x4 works. He is supposed to be sending me some more pics, but hasn't yet.
