kids 87 s-10 shock replacement
my son's s-10 is in desperate need of shocks..he wants to do the work himself (low on money)but the problem is...we have no compressor or air ratchet tools...how difficult will it be with regular tools?..also what brand of shock is good that will give him a couple years of life?.thanks for any reply

I'm not too familiar with the S-10 platforms, but with my '03 silverado it was a piece of cake. I did both the front and rears with simple hand tools in about 45 minutes. In terms of brands I'd recommend, Doetsch Tech you can get online and are fairly inexpensive. Lots of good recommendations on them. Or Bilstein are good too.

My dad and i have always changed the shocks by hand on our cars/trucks. no air tools, and never any lube unless its really necessary(for us at least).
