last 1968 chevy truck?
Where there ANY 1968 trucks that were built in the baltimore plant in late August of 1968?....and if so what would be the vin# range?
|
Sounds interesting, we found some one a couple years ago with a vin in the double digits production number on a 67...one of the first ones built.
Who has the last 68? |
What I am trying to find out is If there where ANY chevy trucks built the last week of August, 1968...that were 1968 trucks?...and what would the vin# range be like 200XXX ?
|
..but it must have been built in BALTIMORE.....
|
it is my understanding that in 1968 at the Baltimore plant they produced chevElles, el camino's, and chevy trucks ( correct me if I am wrong )
....and I am trying to find out IF there were ANY VEHICLES BUILT THE LAST WEEK OF AUGUST , 1968....THAT WERE 1968 VEHICLES???? .. ...READ THIS AND YOU WILL UNDERSTAND WHY... http://www.chevelles.com/forums/showthread.php?t=97918 ... .....THANKS |

Well not realy sure. I guess a 68 could have been actualy assembled, say summer of 67, and put on a lot for the new model 68s that fall. So does that mean I have a 67???
Now I am way more confused than I normaly am confused! |
Is there not a code on your "cowl tag" that shows when your truck was built ( like 08D )...for August ...the 4th week....
.. ....I'm not familiar with truck cowl tags....and they may not be similar to other "car" cowl tags....fill me in!! .. ...I'm trying to find out what vin range would any 1968 trucks that were built in baltimore IN AUGUST have....???? ( WHICH IS PROBABLY THE LAST MONTH THEY BUILT ANY 1968 VEHICLES AT THE BALTIMORE PLANT ) :b69: |
in the door frame maybe and /or on top of frame drivers side behind headlight, right there???
|
...as far as where it is located.....
......I don't know on a chevy truck....maybe the glove box door? ... ...Does anyone have the "sequence vin listings for the Baltimore plant that shows "What TRUCK vin numbers where built at that plant in August, 1968??" .... ...would it be in the "200XXX" range??? .. ..thanks |
the trucks build date is found on the drivers side door jam.the wifes 71 longhorn was built on december,29,1970 and it was shippied to the dealer ship on January,7,1971(we learned that from vintage vehicle services an GM of canada division)

This thread and the Chevelle thread just confused me and gave me a headache.

Dick, I found a 396, 4-bolt main block that has a vin number stamped on the housing near the oil filter..."18B202XXX"
...deciphered means: ... "1...for Chevrolet" ..."8... for 1968 ....year of vehicle" ..."B...Baltimore....where the vehicle was built ...and "202XXX ....the sequence number of the vehicle ........as it was built in that plant" ... ... I would like to find out if it came out of a chevy truck which was built at the Baltimore Plant in Late August, 1968.....because the front pad is stamped "T0824KG" ...deciphered means: ..."T...Tonowanda...where the engine was built" ..."0824....August 24th....the day the engine was built" ..."KG...which is a code used on Chevelle's meaning... ................4 SPEED,396/375 ALUMINIUM HEAD MOTOR ...... ...The chevelle guys tell me that a vin in the "202XXX" range would be for a Chevelle ( or El camino ) built in MAY at the Baltimore plant ...which you cannot have a vehicle built BEFORE the motor was built..... ...therefore, I am trying to see if there was another type of vehicle that was built in the Baltimore Plant, after August 24th, 1968 that would have possibly had used the same"KG" code ....if I find this to be true....It would be a very unusual vehicle..and would have probably been specially ordered.... .. .....by looking closely at the engine stamping....I do not think they have been "re-stamped" .. ....that is why I am trying to find what vehicle would have a vin sequence # around "202XXX" AND was built in Baltimore AND is a 1968 vehicle ........... :hmm: : |
