I justed used the one that I used for my small blocks. THe 427 worked the engine stane pretty good, but at no point did I feel it was unsafe.

Just use the same as you would a small block engine. Keep in mind that BB's are a couple hundred pounds heavier, so have a extra person to help you spin a fully assembled one!! Greg

 A BBC WEIGHS ALMOST TWICE WHAT A SBC WEIGHS. DON'T USE ONE OF THE WIMPY 1000# OR 1200# ENGINE STANDS. HAURBOR FREIGHT SELL A 2000# ENGINE STAND FOR AROUND $100. JOHN

I would also agree to get a HD stand. Even tho a full dress BB weights 8-900 pounds, and a 1000 pound stand is supposed to support it, I would still get a heavier duty stand. You will need to tighten down bolts and do many more things while it is on the stand, I wouldn't want to be near the stands weight limit while doing so. Also, if you can afford to get a 4-legger stand, do so.

I couldn't believe how my 1000# stand sagged with the tall deck 427 on it.

I've seen a 1000lb stand snap with a fully dressed 60's BBF 390 on it  :dohh:. Luckily the motor was pretty much junk anyway  . The new 2000lb one holds the good 390 much better.
