converting old 67 hand parking brake to foot parking brake.
im installing the newer style (out of a 71) footbrake in place of the old handbrake. how would I do so? just bolt in and hook up the cable? anyone have pictures of one installed?

I'm interested in this one also. I'm replacing a 71 cab with a 68. I trying to decide to use the 68 hand brake lever or switch to the 71 foot brake lever.
One problem I see is where the cable passes thru the firewall. The location and size of the electrical bulkhead is in question. |
Check out Wes's panel project:

The foot brake mechanism is about 1/2 or 3/8 longer(deeper) than the 67/68 cab allows. You can either section the foot mechanism or do like Wes did with his panel.

footbrake
I have done several of these. The 67-68 fusebox has to be moved over. I welded old hole up and cut new hole for box. It has been a few years. Make a pattern off of a 69-72 cab. Lay it out on cab after you weld up old suare hole. I am sure i forgot something. Good Luck

I'd like to see what the 67-68 handbrake looks like. I hate foot parking brakes!

PO installed foot brake on my '67. Only problem is, the kick panel vent only opens halfway because it's blocked.
|
That's funny. I am replacing the foot brake in my 69 with a 68 hand set up. The cable that hooks to the assemblys is diff. from hand to foot. ( correct me if wrong)

I did it! Used the same fuse box hole, had to relocate the e-brake cable clip on the inner fender. Just make a template of the bolt holes and e-brake cable hole. I mounted it as far to the inside vent without it interferring with the vent door.

So either cable works for either foot or hand and /or hand or foot or /hand to mouth ( oops)?????
