BATT gauge wiring
How can I wire my BATT gauge to work with the new style one wire alt I have?

If your gauge is the original ammeter then it should work as is as long as the power wire from the battery is the same. If you changed the power wire, it still can be made to work.

Can someone describe or draw how it needs to be wired? With colors?

N E 1?

Did it worK before? If so should work now with no change. If it didn't check the 2 four amp fuses at each corner of radiator support.

I suspect that in wiring up the one alternator, the original power feed wire has been by passed. The original ammeter works off of very low power, (it senses the voltage drop caused by the wire resistance in the short distance from one side of the radiator to the other). If the one wire off of the alternator goes directly to the battery then the charge reading for the gauge has been eliminated. There is a way to hook up the ammeter but it would be helpful to know what was done and the size of the wire used.

I don't have any past info on the truck. The alt had been upgraded before I got it and I don't know if the gauge worked or not. I just need to know what wire needs to go where to get it to work.

Heres a diagram that shows the wires with the 4 amp fuses. As mentioned before if your alternator wiring is different than the diagram (direct to batt) it will need to be wired like diagram to work. John
