2" lowering shackles

I'm about to order some 2" lowering shackles for my '86 C10 and was wondering if there is anything special I should be aware of, or is it a pretty simple job?

My only 2 questions are: do I need to raise the truck by means other than the rear end, and then raise the rear to take pressure off of the springs. How can I tell when the springs are "neutral"?

Also is there any special way that I need to notch the bed rail?

Thanks for any information
Jeremy

jack on the diff, till the wheels are off the ground, get jack stands on frame rails, let weigth of truck fall onto your jack stands, but leave jack under diff to support the weight of the rearend but not enough to put tension on your leafs, knock your shackle bolts out, jack up a little to get them out of the hangar, replace them with your drop shackles, drop the jack back down, line your holes pop your new bolts in. see where your shackles interfere with your bed mount and mark and cut bend a piece of 16 gauge to box in your cut and throw some paint over to cover your bare metal after your welds are ground down. hope this helps. its really not a bad job to do, 4 hours max. including notching and install.
