Bottoming Out
I lowered my 1971 1/2 longbed with 3"/5" coils and now It does not have very much gap between the upper control arm and the old rubber stop brackit on the lower control arm when I hit a bump it bottoms out hitting the brackit and the upper arm theres only about a 1"1/2 gap for susp. travel Has any body had this problem can I cut the brackit off Thanks JOE

There are shorter bumpstops out there. You need a bumpstop or else its gonna hit steel on steel. Also you need a big enough bumpstop to keep the springs from compresing all the way or else your gonna do damage. The better way to lower a truck is lowering spindles, and this is exactly the reason. With lowering spindles you use stock springs and retain full suspension travel.
