Wanted--dirt shields = 72 Blazer
 

Looking for a pair of good dirt shields for a 72 Blazer. These are the sheet metal things that mount to the rear sport bumper mounts and are unique to 4x4's. If you have a extra pair, let me know. Tks---Huck

Damn, for a minute I thought I may have saved the day, check this out,
I called and spoke to them, the model # for a 72 is the same as a 71, so
it is not what your looking for, just curious if this is about what vendors
sell them for, they are aftermarket, no idea on the fit or quality of them.

Classic Industries sells them... $13.00 each, #CX1240 & cx1241. Don't know if any of the board vendors sell them as well.

Do a search for 'shield' or 'Rear Bumper Gravel Shield'.

Only problem RESTO is like mentioned above, 72 only are unique and
as of now nobody reproduces the 72 only style. (curved frame ends)

Guess the 72 is the only one that has the sport bumper mounted directly onto the frame, with little bumper mount extensions out the sides. Both the mounts and the shields on my project are crap. I can make the extensions from some front mounts but the shields are "UNIQUE" which is always a PITA! Oh well---will continue to search but may have to go with some modified 71's. Will post a picture later today which might job someone's brain (da, got some back in the barn holding up the chicken nests?!!)hehehehe

Guess you guys know what you're talking about! I could'a swore these would work on a '72 in that they just screw down from the top. Can you post a pic of what's left of the shields for comparison? Curious.

71 RestoRod, the frame on the 72 is longer, and the bumper bolts right to it. So instead of the 4 brackets holding the bumper you have 2 outer brackets and the frame.
In this thread FuelCellGuy posted a picture of his 72 frame, you can see why the other dust shields won't fit properly.

Yea... I know what you mean I'm familier with the difference, but don't the shields attach to the top of the frame instead of the brackets? I know I've seen '72s with the shields but I didn't pay attention to the mounting.

First place I went was to Teeitup and Randy had only the pair he needed. Unfortunately Kilamangero from Kansas moved to Alaska as he was a great source of Blazer parts when he was down in the lower 48!! Ah well, the search continues--. GEE_Emm has the correct picture. Mine are rusted through to the point of useless as is the rest of the body except for the firewall and windshield frame. May just have to use 71 or 2x4 shields. Of course I will probably never put the Blazer where it would need them~~~~hummm!
