Loudest nastiest...mufflers

My truck will just be a Sunday cruiser, what mufflers will be the loudest, nastiest sounding?

Jim_PA 08-30-2005 09:43 AM

Dynomax Turbo tubes If you want the loudest you can get :D

N2TRUX 08-30-2005 09:44 AM

Why run mufflers if you want it loud. Just put some 4" pipe back there so it will drive everyone insane......

stllookn 08-30-2005 10:16 AM

Flowmaster 40's are pretty loud and raspy. Many have changed them out after a bit since they are so noisy...that has to say something! You can go the Flowmaster website and hear the differences. Dynomax may have a website for your enjoyment too...LOL!

matthufham 08-30-2005 11:00 AM

flowmaster 40's not delta flow 40's (delta=quiet)

navybear70 08-30-2005 11:09 AM

Yes, make sure you get the original Flowmaster 40 series "American Thunder"'s. Those are the loudest mufflers...unless, of course, you get some glasspacks, heat em up and stuff a garden hose up the pipe! (Not reccomended) The problem with straight pipe is the lack of backpressure. Make the truck run and sound like crap...IMO.

:metal: ONE CHAMBER FLOWMASTERS :metal:

The Walker Turbo Tubes and DynaMax round-style are non-baffled and really crack when you get in it.

Fred T 08-30-2005 02:13 PM

Straight pipes with an expansion tip, which boosts the bass. If you're required by law to have a muffler, go with a short, cheap glass pack.

I agree, the turbo tubes are loud as he!! Only other thing I can think of is a one chamber Flowmaster like what was just mentioned. Also the dynomax race bullets are pretty darn loud too.

Almost forgot dont know how but the newer 1 chambers are a bit quieter (not much)... So if you see some older ones grab them quick !

Flowmasters are anything but raspy

If you want loud and nasty, go the redneck route and lose the muffler all together. That should annoy the neighbors nicely :hm:

camaro__thunder 08-31-2005 12:55 PM

You can make almost any muff raspy depending on the engine.. If you have a fast revving small block they sound great.. Gotta love a stroker !

Robert1970C20rstbukt 08-31-2005 03:44 PM

Dual 12" glasspacks........or a straight 2.5" pipe. I ran mine without a muffler but came close to getting a ticket so I went and bought a 18" glasspack and there's not much difference between that and no muffler at all. :metal:

bigjimzlll 08-31-2005 05:06 PM

dynomax bullets. They were just as loud as open headers on my truck...they are also not allowed for street use..but...

www.spintech.com Check out these soundbites.

whatever muffler you choose if you get your hands on a couple of 18"long pieces of brass tubing and install right after the muffler it will make sounds that nobody else has// also nothing makes noise like horsepower!!!!

LUV2XCLR8 08-31-2005 07:12 PM

The HOOKER ones are pretty nasty also, deepest ones I have heard yet ;)

BRASS TUBING=RESONANCE ever wonder why they make tubas and trumpets out of brass???

muddpile 09-01-2005 12:48 AM

Want ignorantly loud? Get the unbaffled glasspacks or tractor mufflers (you can see daylight easily though them, and the little ridged baffles lining the inside) and put them on backwards. Instant noise!

matthufham 09-01-2005 04:19 PM

hmm, brass. does anybody make 12 inch long brass tips for a 2" dual system?
