From what i understand, those 5 speeds that come out of camaro's and PU's are limited to how much torque they can handle because of there weekness. Even a muncie, or borg worner T10, and the saginaw tranny, is said to be rated for around 250 to 275 lbs tq. All though i ratained the saginaw 3 speed that my 76 GMC came with at this time, i do plan to up grade to one of the after market 5 speeds in the future. But in any event you should go with a standered shift, because the only slippage youl have is when the clutch is applied. After that all your power goes to the ground, unlike a torque converter were 25% slippage can cost up to 100 hp. off the line, untill you catch up to road speed. just my 2 cents :metal:
