I hope everyone is enjoy a safe and relaxing Labor Day weekend. So far mine has been safe but not very relaxing.
Friday night I went to get my hair cut and while I was there I worked on their Coke machine. I got it working, but I think it needs some vend motors.

Saturday morning I got up early and went to the gym where my daughter plays volleyball. We set up a donation station for Katrina victoms. We collected 9-10 truck loads of supplies and too them to some of the local orginazitions to be distrubited. Later we had friends over for swimming and pizza.

Sunday I worked in my yard. I worked with a couple of helpers and rebuilt the stone pathways around my pool. I put down almost 20 bags of sackrete between the stones to keep the weeds out.

This evening we went to dinner with friends. Tomorrow all my wifes family is coming over for grilling and swimming.

What did you get done?

Here's one of the lovely gretters at our donation station....

Saturday I finished assembling my pool table & then broke out the BudLight for an 'official' test game.
I do good work if I can say so myself  .

I took the day off today. I cleaned the pool, fixed the young-ones ceiling fan & that was about it. Oh yeah, we played a few games of pool (me, the GF, her daughter & daughters friend).

This is my first what did you get done thread, and i'm actually excited.
Well lets see..... New control arm bushings, tie rods, ball joints, idler arm, collector gaskets, and brake pads on my 76 stepside. Also new tires (31x18.5x15 in back and the matching mickey t's in the front), raised the rear end a few inches for a little rake, and drove it out of the garage for the first time in a year under its own power. While I was working on the truck, my wife & mom cleaned carpets and prepared the nursery (put the furniture together and all) plus a few more odds and ends jobs. I need to go back to work to get some rest..........

Thanks for the comments guys. The pictures actually look better than the truck does in person. It has sat for about 6 years(thankfully inside), and has a few issues which I am slowly working through. It was a drag truck in North Carolina for some number of years. Future projects included new rockers, rebuilding the carb, fixing the bed wood, and updating the interior (right now its burgundy tweed). I'm just glad we have a resource like this website for tips and ideas. And as far as I can tell it was named after the song, here is a pic of the tailgate......

My weekend was spent working on what will be the concrete slab of our new garage. Hoping to get the concrete in later this month and then likely wait to do the build next spring. Extremely exciting time for me - anticipating what is to come. And what is to come....???

- 26' wide x 28/30 feet long (approx 750 sq. ft.)
- hydronic heating in the slab
- 9' ceilings
- attic style truss for "walkable" storage area above ceiling.
- SPACE TO WORK ON MY TRUCK!!!!!!!! :metal:

So that was my "Labour day". I call it my "labour" of love... :)

:canada: :bowtie: :flag:

I cleaned my room (yeah,... i know) and found a whole bunch of clothes to donate. Took them to the shelter right down the road (an old wal mart building they packed with people) and i'm bringing my school uniforms to school with me tomorrow.

Other than that, just a whole lot of nothing, thanks to 1. Insane gas and 2. too many panicked N.O. people on the road. Straight-up dangerous to drive....

When I had a soft bed cover the best mileage I ever got was 31. That was strictly on the highway and half of it was downhill. I went 615 miles between fill ups on that trip! That was the exception though. It mostly gets around 27-28 on the highway and around 23-24 in town. YMMV
