A ? about the proportioning valve on my 76 C10

I finelly got around to putting some of my brake lines back on pu 76 GMC. The trucks been apart around 5 yrs or so, but when i bolted the proportioning valve on, i noticed that it had one wire coming out of the top of it. Does anyone know what the wire is for, because i never noticed it when i took the thing off the truck.

When your breaks are out of balance frunt to rear that valve makes contact and turns a light on, in the dash that says BREAK in red. Matt

ThanX for the responce, does it need to be hooked up, or can i leave it disconected? The painless kit i've installed in my 76 GMC, doesnt have the provition for this wire.
