Rear spring pin help.
 

I'm having trouble getting out the pin on the front spring shackel of the rear end leaf springs. I can get the grease zirks out but have no idea of how to remove the pins. Pleas help as I have been thinking on this for awhile and am stuck. :confused:

They screw out!

How do you get ahold of it to screw it out? It is recessed into the suport bracket and there is no slot or head to put a tool on.

I'm not talking about the rear shackel part. It is the front stationary part of the rear leaf spring.

OK, hope this makes sense...there are actually two parts to the connection, the shaft that goes through the front eye of the leaf, with the grease zerk on the end, and a second smaller shaft that is aligned from front to back.
The larger (side to side) shaft has a flat edge to it, and the smaller front to back shaft is threaded on the back side and also has a flat to lock the larger shaft in place. Remove the nut from the smaller shaft and then knock it out toward the front. At this point if you have removed the grease zerk, you can this use some kind of tool to knock the larger shaft toward the inside of the truck.
I think that's how to do it.

I just figured that out last night.... and you made perfect since on the solution. A few hits on that tapered pin with the nut on it (as thread protection), then remove the tapered pin. Then the large pin in the spring pulled right with the grease zirk as a handle to grip it with.
