wheel hop
Hey there,
When backing up an incline, I am getting quite a bit of wheel hop from rear. Would the fact that its lowered 6 inches cause this? I have yet to address the shock angle issue. I am planning on swapping and rotating lower shock mounts right to left for some added travel. Any ideas on whats causing the hop? Thanks, Tristen '71 C-10  |
You hit it exactly. Your shocks are headed toward horizontal with that much of a drop. When you're backing up an incline, the rear of the truck has very little weight on it AND the shock has almost no leverage to push down the rearend. So... hop, hop.

Having shock travel shouldn't be a problem if you have drop shocks, its the angle thats really critical. Shocks need to be perpendicular to the ground, not parallel (sp.?)

there are some mods you can do to improve shock reaction such as unriveting and sliding upper shock stud brackets to right above the axle tube
ever notice that 73-up truck shocks mount one in front of and one behind the axle ? |
