81 4wd blazer, suspension upgrade questions.
i have an 81 blazer. i'm putting 3/4 ton suspension under it, and i want to raise it 2" or 3", nothing to extreme. does anyone offer these lifts with springs for the rear or is it just blocks? will the 3/4 ton springs raise it any? thanks alot

your blazer has 52" rear springs, some 3/4ton trucks have 56" rear springs so they will not work. If you do have 52" rear 3/4 ton springs you probably won't see much lift except that from the number of leafs in the spring pack. Several manufacturers sell rear lift springs, i have 4" tuff country 52" rears on my GMC. For your year tuff country sells 2,3,4 & 6" rear springs.

thanks for the info. i am very new to 4WD stuff, i am usually lowering vehicles. i guess i had better measure the springs. if they are 56" can i move the mounts or anything? also will there be any difference between front springs? also when ordering a lift kit, should i order one for 1/2 ton blazer or 3/4 ton truck?
|
no difference except the rear springs. The fronts are the same73-91 1/2 ton and 3/4 ton.

okay, i measured the springs and they are 52" so they will work on my blazer. and now more "stupid" questions. as far as lift kits go, is there a difference between the 1/2 ton and 3/4 ton? as far as spring rates and such. if i order the kit with blocks for the rear will it affect the ride, having new springs in the front and old springs in the rear? are blocks really a good way to lift it? i really want springs all the way around, but the price for rear blocks is attractive. so any advice would be welcome. thanks
