Well since I don't have a ring announcer to lead me in I guess I will have to do it myself.

Hello, my name is David and I am a horsepower junkie. I have several cars (95 TransAm, 67 Chevelle, 79 El Camino, 36 Chev) and one beautiful beater truck!

My truck is a 1971 Chev K20. It is a manual with a 205, Dana 44 front and a as yet unidentified rear. The previous owner did a mixed bag of restoration that I guess was great at one point, but now the truck is in need of a complete re-do.

The truck was painted to resemble a Budwiser beer can (red and white, and why my name is "budbeater") complete with things like "Beechwood Aged" pinstriped on the side. The truck has 4" of lift 35 BFGs, and a 355 with 2.02 heads and a mild cam. It turns 260 RWtorque and 180RWHP.

Well the paint has oxidized, the pinstriping has faded, the springs are sagging, things are rusting, and in my little world 180rwhp is about 350hp to little.

I love the overall patina and vibe the truck has, but it is time to update. First on the list is a lift combo (6" springs, 2" body) so that I can do new front sheetmetal (the current has been trimmed to fit the tires), and a cab redo. The list of mods from there is long and interesting, but I hopefully will be successful along the way. I want to end up with a solid tow vehicle that in some aspects matches my Chevelle, and a vehicle in which I can do some good trail running/mild wheeling.

If you are this far into my post, thanks for reading.

David

budbeater it sounds like you have a serious truck to build on. Show us some pics so we can really appreciate this unique paint job it's wearing.... ;)
