fuel tank

just a quick question to anyone. I have a 80 chevy 1/2 ton 2wd that a friend willed me i'm trying to restore. Someone stole my pass side tank and just left everthing hanging. My question is how do i convert from 2 to 1 tank and bypass the tank switch and deadend the left over wires. wires are 2 pink,1 blue, and one green (which i found out is not ground, its hot)

i would guess the easiest thing to do is leave it a lone and do not use the switch that changes the tanks just make sure everything is tightened up or tied up if you didnt remove the tank you dont know what was left undone. and then just run on the tank that is there, the reason i suggested it this way is b/c i think you might want another tank one of these days and then all you have to do is just bolt in and hook up the wires

thanks for your help but they cut all the wires at the front of the tranny and left me nothing but a bundle of wires and one tank, drivers side

It took me half a day with the truck up on jackstands and a whole lot of clanging and banging (and swearing) to get my tank out. How the heck did they steal your tank out from under your truck without someone noticing???

with out seeing what mess you have than i cant help to much but arent the wires color coded if so just match color twist together try to start truck up if it dosnt start hit the swith on the dash once you are running again fasten the wires up properly as far as wire crimping connectors and drive on. i hope this helps you in your situation if not i would suggest to have a friend that know a little more about this type of vehicle problem and im sure you can get this fixed

should be easy to just route the lines direct to the fuel pump and bypass the rest.

:drama: To those who answered me back thanks i was out of town couldn't get back. To answer what i can they stole the tank from the person who willed it to me, second i can't just twist the wires because they stole everything including the solenoid that switches tanks and just ripped wires out, third i tried to run straight wires from the sending unit to the fuel gauge, ground, power 12v and no matter what combo i try i still get the fuel gauge pegging at 3 o'clock i even put in a new sending unit, still 3 o'clock can anyone help or turn me onto someone who knows xactly how it should be wired chilton doesn't show where each wire should go.
