Pics of my truck.

I guess since I've been here almost a year I should probably show you guys what I drive. Within the next month it will be torn apart in the garage to receive a ton of new metal, interior, wiring and a few engine dressup goodies. It has a good strong powertrain already, and is very reliable, but it just isn't that pretty. Here ya go.

Looks like a good solid truck

Is the driver`s side as good as the passenger`s on that seat? Thanks for sharing.

That's a great start...are you redoing it to appear stock? I really like the colors but IIRC you are planning a more custom route? Either way it should be pretty nice. Can't wait to see pics of the truck undergoing surgery this winter!

Great looking highlander seat. I hope you keep that! I like the ralleys painted the body color like your rear wheel. That adds a nice touch of continuity.

Just a question

I was wondering what that depression was on your inner door in that second picture? It is located directly under the wing window.

HeavyD 10-10-2005 04:00 AM

Screw hole. 1972 doors had them, whereas the 67-71 doors did not.

special-K 10-10-2005 07:08 AM

What!!! No vise-grip on the passenger winder?!!! Shame!! Where`s you hillbilly inginuity?

I hope you did not pay too much for that fancy air brush "FAST ORANGE" on your tail gate.

Hmm, where do I start... I guess at the top.

1. No Special K, the drivers side of the seat is actually torn up REALLY bad. I thought I got more of it in the pic, but I'll have to take another one. There is almost no cloth or vinyl left on the bottom, mostly just bare foam with big chunks taken out.

2. Heavy D, I like the look of it now too, but I am going to go more of a custom route. I couldn't decide which way to go, and since it is a driver, I figured I'd go the most comfortable/affordable. I priced out both, and custom won hands down. I just bought some buckets and a console out of a 92 chevy ext. cab for it in a nice grey, and will likely paint the truck solid orange (can't change the color, then I'd have to rename the truck) and maybe add some silver or grey flames across the hood/front fenders.

3. Tattoo, it looks better in pics than real life, as that is not talented airbrush work, it actually IS rust :hm: . The rockers and cab corners are mostly tin foil, mono foam and bondo. The floor isn't too good, and the corners of the doors have rusted off. It's still a decently solid truck, but needs some TLC.

4. Stllookn, I will be keeping the seat, just not in the truck. I always wanted a nice plaid couch for the garage. And all four wheels were orange when I bought the truck, but the carwash pressure washer made short work of the paint on the one. Tore it off in one big piece (they must have brushpainted right over the dirt).

5. Special K, the window crank was actually a recent loss. When I took the door panel off yesterday, I lost the clip for the crank. I have another one around here somewhere, just have to put it back on.

6. 86SWB, all it takes to give a truck that custom touch is a brush, a small jar of model paint and about two minutes

Thanks for all the comments guys! Progress pics will follow in the next month or two as I start taking things apart, fixing them and putting them back together.

O.k. I did some detective work and I figured out what exactly what that depression was in the inner upper metal part just below the wing window handle. its a screw !!!
