Don't you hate people that lie????

Sorry but i have to vent. I am so pissed. Ok here is the story. I have been talking to this guy(not a member) in Kansas for 3 months about a sandblasted cab that has some rust in the floor, rockers, and cab corners. He seems to be very honest. He send about 20 pics of the thing. Looks good. So i rent a trailer ($50) then drive down there to see the absolutely most rusty cab i have ever seen in my life. I didn't notice at first then we load it on the trailer and i start to look and yes the rockers and cab corners are trash as well as some spots on the floor. Then i start to look closer and the headliner? between where the sunvisors bolt on is totally rusted through and then below that where the bead for windshield is almost totally gone too. I point this out and the guy has the nerve to first tell me i could fill it with bondo then says he has never even seen those spots before. Then said well he still wanted $400 for it because that is what he had in the blasting. I told him if you pay $400 to blast a Piece of s, It is still a piece of s. This was supposeidly his "project". I don't know about you but I think I know every dent and ding on mine much less missing a 5 ft long rust hole times 2.
So in conclusion I Spent $150 in gas and $50 on a trailer and wasted almost my whole day sunday for nothing.
And yes i told him where he could shove that cab.
Thanks for letting me vent.

been there in my search for cars and trucks.....a "tiny tear in a seat" becomes a tear the length of the entire seat, back and bottom.....a "rust free vehicle" has no rockers, quarters, or fenders to speak of, except for the bondo add ons.....and "runs like a top".....all while burning 2 quarts of oil to every two gallons of gas.....isn't that what a two stroke does? pictures maybe worth a thousand words, but I have never liked the idea of committing to something before I see it hands on......look at it this way, you are out $200 but at least you didn't drop another $400 into something that will cost you another $1,000 to fix

Sounds like fun! Glad you got it off of your chest.

I have to give people the benefit of the doubt.

I've been on quite a few drives with trailers, only to come home empty. I bring my son, or a friend and enjoy the ride. Get lunch, smoke a cigar (wife can't stand them these days)

it's all part of the experience//don't know how many thousands of miles i've racked up with similar results//but i keep looking cause every once in a while you get to really step in it then all the bad experiences are just a memory

Been there, done that. Next time try to get a board member that is close to check it out for you. It may save you a trip and some frustration.

Probably could have talked with Randy (Teeitup), he is in Kansas, he probably had what you needed, at a good price, and he is very upfront on what he sells! (and is a board member)

I've found that a lot of people selling stuff don't necessarily lie. They truely believe that what they have is something that IS in good/restorable shape, but to you and I it is something not even worth messing with. You didn't waste the day, you got to go on a road trip!

lol.. you should have seen the "Needs TLC" 68 swb I looked at.

Bedrock style secondary drive system installed in both sides of cab.

Cardboard/tar paper/bondo cab corners

Can't tell you what the bed floor looked like (even if it was metal or wood) because of the trash piled higher than the bedrails in the back.

4 flat tires (all different) on ugly steel rims (also all different)

Straight 6 "Just needs carb to run" (would have been nice if it actually *had* a carb!)

No seat cover (some foam.. hard to tell with the duct tape and towels pretending to be a seat cover.

Plywood and rubber mats doing a poor job of concealing the afore mentioned Bedrock secondary drive system.

Kraco din head unit installed in 1 x 6 which was screwed onto dash.

Whole package described as "reliable, hard running, pickup with plenty of promisse ready to sacrifice at $800 because I have no place to keep it."

I would have suggested the scrap yard but since I was way down a country road with bubba I decided discretion was the better part of valour and just told him I would think about it.

Here's one I looked at. 70 LWB for 4 K, rust, rust and more rust. Not a straight panel, interior shot etc, etc. It did have a built 427 least thats what he said. Wanted 2K without the motor, worth about $800 or less.It pays to look close, take a buddy and ask ???????
