How do you anchor the shoulder belt of a 3-way seatbelt in our trucks?
For those of you that have upgraded to a more modern seatbelt config, how'd you anchor the top, shoulder belt?

My truck had a hole on either side (with a plastic plug in it) that was made specifically for that purpose. I think it's 1/2 or 5/8 fine thread bolt, but don't hold me to that.

Ditto. Mine has those also.

My '67 cab has the threaded holes also.

That is quite the hairdo in your avatar too.
No wonder I don't have any hair. That dude got mine and then some. Back on topic....I've always wanted to check my 70 to see if the bolt holes are there for the safety belts. I suspect they are, but I keep forgetting to look. Mike |

I used the tank holes with bucket seats

I was surprised to find that my '69 Burb has the upper mount holes with plastic plugs for all three rows.

some of the never GM seats have the belt in the seat itself. And my truck looks like it has plugs, but i have never removed them

I just changed my belts back to lap belts. Thanks for the light bulb... I never liked them shoulder ... |

click on the link to my truck gallery. At the bottom of my gallery list is "cab work" or something like that. You can see where the stock holes are in our trucks- mine was purchased with 3-point belts.

both my 68 fleetside & 67 stepside have the hole. I have been contemplating robbing the 3 point set-up from my 88 Ciera wagon. I like how you can give just a little slack on the shoulder belt.

Re: How do you anchor the shoulder belt of a 3-way seatbelt in our trucks?
Thanks for the info guys. Mainly I'm looing for two things: 1) safety 2) a spring-loaded roll-up style retainer thing on the floor next to the seat. I've only had the truck a month, only driven it maybe 10 times and already I'm tired of closing the door onthe seatbelt.

Re: How do you anchor the shoulder belt of a 3-way seatbelt in our trucks?
My plastic thing that keeps the seatbelt from falling out the door is broken too. It's a real pain and I'm trying to decide between new lap or shoulder belts. Anyone have any opinions?

The bolt hole in the B pillar is 7/16 NF. Use it. I don't reccomend using intregral belt types of seats from the newer trucks in our trucks as they will impose huge loads into the floors that they were never designed to take. Get something that uses the B pillar bolt hole and all will be well.

Stingray you make a very interesting point. It's the same reason I passed on a sweet set of cadillac leather buckets. After I measured for the clearance next to the door with the integrated belts I started thinking about the loads imposed on the floor without the cab anchor. The same problem is there on the cadillac though so who knows. I went with 82 corvette buckets and the 3 point belts.

Re: How do you anchor the shoulder belt of a 3-way seatbelt in our trucks?
hey I'm new here, when I bought my '68, my mom wanted me to install shoulder belts and I got a kit from Year One thats unretractable but I put retractors on the belts. The setup isn't the prettiest but it gets the job done. After looking through more catalogs for other parts I saw that Chevy Duty has a pretty nice 3-point system with a retractor on the floor, had I seen this before I got the Year One setup installed I definitely would've gone with the Chevy Duty kit. The kit seems pretty nice and looks good and for safety purposes goin with new belts might be better than some pulled off a junked car or truck.
