Rally stripes on our trucks
1 Attachment(s)
I have seen some of our trucks with Camaro/Chevelle style rally stripes and I like the look on most of them but not all of them. I don't like them on the roof or tailgate, JUST the hood. I am personally thinking about doing this myself.Either light silver, black or gray. The truck is Hugger Orange and will have a cowl hood (Goodmark) Not a big cowl a small one. What do you think about this. Honestly, If ya don't like it, thats fine. I am just wondering what the concensis is. Obviously it won't look good on a stock truck but my truck is a 68 short fleet with a 4/6 drop and has the Wheel Vintique chrome corvette style rallys on it. I was going for kinda of a muscle car theme. The truck is not stock by any means.
What's your opinion ? Something like this. |
Re: Rally stripes on our trucks
I've seen similar stripes with ghost flames at the beginning and tips. Very cool. Hugger orange-white stripe. .02

Re: Rally stripes on our trucks
I plan on doing silver stripes with my yellow truck. Like the color pattern on the mustang from American Hot Rod.

Re: Rally stripes on our trucks
I understand what you want, but I'm a child of the '60's and there was a time when people would put rallye stripes, racing stripes, whatever you want to call 'em, on anything. I even put a pair of 'em on my '62 Cushman!!
But, "back in the day" there was a plethora of cars with racing stripes, whether the GT-350/Mustang variety, or the style of the Z-28's, and others. Tastefully done, there's nothing wrong with them. Besides, if it is your vehicle, it shouldn't matter what anybody else thinks. Do 'em like you like 'em!! |
Re: Rally stripes on our trucks
Those hood stripes can be nice, if they are proportionate.
Bumper to bumper stripes are too much IMO. Besides, it looks like the Dodge Ram SST poser look  |

Here is a pic from "back in the day".
It is was named 1967 SS Truck GM Special in the magazine where the pic came from. It has Camaro RS grille, Camaro SS hood with louvers and the "Bumble Bee" stripe over the nose. Sorry for the bad quality pic but I think it is a cool truck. |
Re: Rally stripes on our trucks
I don't see a bumble bee stripe on the truck in that pic?
I see the metal brow, but no stripe... |

I was told that the truck was supposed to have the bumble bee stripe, I don't have the magazine myself. Anyone else have a better pic of this truck or know anything about it? |

It's  I'd imagine not to many people are ACTUALLY going to make there vehicle into a YENKO clone, mine will only have the side stripe, no stripes on my cowl hood, or tailgate, and no roof option available  |
Re: Rally stripes on our trucks
Had thoughts of inserting my name instead of Yenco.(same # of letters-future project planning) Owned an el camino for several years.

EL - for El Camino? does the mean I should use BZ - for a BlaZer  |
Re: Rally stripes on our trucks
http://proststang.tripod.com/id1.html Check out the Blazer in the center top photo of this gallery. This guy has stripes though they are hard to see with the glare on the hood. It look like he even ran them on up over the dash. If you check out the elcamino with the Yenko stripes in the previous link it does have its tailgate striped correctly for an SS. The elcaminos had a stripe that ran from taillight to taillight that was the same color as the hood stripes. I researched it several years ago when I was wanting to put SS stripes on a 72 Chevelle wagon.

Re: Rally stripes on our trucks
I like the ralley or Z stripes on one, just the hood and tailgate. I've never seen a Z with em' on the top. With the cowl it would look good.

Re: Rally stripes on our trucks

Re: Rally stripes on our trucks
I like the rally stripe idea, especially as a musclecar theme as your suggesting. I'd only put them on the hood too though.

Re: Rally stripes on our trucks

I would really Love to see that in a far better example than the one you posted! Many years ago, in the mid '80s, I stumbled onto a guy who had one of the 1969 PaceCar Truck limited edition releases that were at Indy for that race. It basically was only a white truck, 1/2 ton longbed-if I remember correctly, it had this front nose stripe very similar to the 67 Camaro version used. That stripe on the nose was Hugger Orange, and the truck had orange pinstriping on it! There were very few of these around; it was the only one I ever saw in person. It was located outside of El Cajon, in California. |
Re: Rally stripes on our trucks
that's a cool idea of just putting them on the hood.

Re: Rally stripes on our trucks
