4wd vs. 2wd frames

I am posting this here as well as the Suburban forum so I have a better chance of a reply. I have noticed way more people traffic this forum than the one for the burbs.

I have a '76 2wd Suburban and just picked up an '85 4wd. I am wondering how much of a difference there is between the 2wd and 4wd frames aside from the obvious suspension differences. Can a 4wd frame be converted into 2wd? The reason I am asking is because I am stripping a '85 4wd Burb for parts so I have the frame from this. My plans for my 76 are to 4-link, c-notch, and bag the suspension. Idealy if I could do all of the mods to the 4wd frame with no body in the way that would be the way to go. Then i would just swap the body to the moded frame and, Bob's your uncle, I'd have a low burb. Anyway, any help would be appreciated.

I knew all about your thread but it didn't come to mind. Thanks for the help and awsome job on the Blazer. I can't wait to see it in paint.

Yep, frame rails are even the same part number!
