73 four-door

i just got ahold of a 1973 four-door 454 and 400 tranny. it's a 3/4 ton but all the info i've ever read from GM says that they only made a 1-ton four door in 73.
anyone know for sure?

Do you have a 3+3 Crew Cab Model? I had a 75 3/4 ton 3+3, they weren't that common but they also weren't rare. I don't believe GM would go to all the expense of producing only one for the model year. It might be a late production run vehicle, as they had to make the dies for the p.u. cab, other wise everything was already being used in the production of the trucks, Suburbans, and Blazers.

I also have a 73 crew cab long bed with same drive configuration. I believe it's the 3+3 with 8300gvw or something like that. It's listed on the registration as 3/4 ton though.

Biggest axle availble for a 4x4 front was a D44. GM didn't start using the D60 front till 76ish. So by today's standards it was a 3/4 ton. Back thens standards it may well have been a 1 ton. Heck to this day the Army list a K30 as a 1.25 ton :)
