Heater Box q's

I have an 81 GMC, does the heater box cover have a gasket inbetween the heater box and the firewall??? I am redoing the engine compartment and removed it and only found dumb dumb inbetween when removed. If so, is there a cork or ubber gasket to buy or just bolt back on???thanks
