What holes are neccessary on the Core Support?
I am smoothing out the top of my core support (getting rid of the 2 big bumps) and filling all non needed holes in it. Can anyone show me which ones are actually needed? Thanks guys

good question. i hadn't thought of it yet but i'll be doing this as well. do you have pictures of you engine compartment before you took it apart? they may help you.
from the top of my head you will need to keep the radiator bracket holes and the hood latch holes are the main ones. also depending on year there may be some additional holes for the grill. there is likely something important i'm missing but others will be able to help with that. ondrew |

The only holes needed are the 4 on the top for the rad hold downs. Pick the rad you are going to use and test mount it. See what set of holes you will need to keep. Other than thoes there are 2 at the top left and 2 at the top right they are nuts for the corner fender to rad support bracket its a triangle shape one from the top down 2 into the fender and 2 into the rad support.
Here is a pic of mine not the best but it does justice. I shaved the most all the hole just not all the nuts |

Re: What holes are neccessary on the Core Support?
Okay, I'll test fit the radiator to see which ones I need. Unfortunately I bought my truck as a basket case and have not yet seen in put togtether yet  . I have already removed and welded the 2 "humps" that were on it but I stopped there because I didn't know what others I needed to have......
What are those for anyways? Seems like they are some sort of "crumple zone" built into the front in case of a front end collision  I am probably totally wrong, it probably has something to do with adding to the acoustics of the horn or something  BTW: 72MARIO - Thats a super clean engine compartment you got there. Thank's.
The "humps" were there from the bend to allow the angle to happen. Thats just the left over material. I thought of smoothign them out but I kinda liked the look of them...... ? Dont ask why. |
