Any pictures of ground effects installed?
I have seen pictures of ground effects installed on these trucks, but not matching colors. I want to see how they look after they are painted to match. Any thoughts or pictures?

Re: Any pictures of ground effects installed?
I can't find the picture, but I took a picture of one that was lifter 6" at carlisle last year, it was green with gold ground effects, After I came through from banging my head of the ground I had a talk with the guy. Turned out the truck was in some movie and he bought it like that for $100 dollars in philadelphia, guess everyone's got a story, I'll find that picture!

Re: Any pictures of ground effects installed?
The truck with the ground effects is miine, I put those on back in the 96/97 time period. 86 Red Bowtie is my son and the truck is still in the family, those pictures were taken at the Mdwest All Truck Nationals in Kansas City this year. I didn't do it to get the truck lower by hanging a body drop look on it, as a matter of fact the ground effects are level with the bottom of the body and are the same style as the late model Camaro RS had. I bought them from East Coast Customs (look in The "Truckin" advertising section). I did it to keep the truck clean and to do a smoothing of the body lines down low. To me it worked. There is about a 100,000 miles (numerous cross country trips) on that paint job and it is as clean and smooth as it was when it was applied many years ago. As for the body drop the truck is lowered 3 1/2 in the front and 3 1/2 in the back using Bell Tech components, I kinda wanted to be able to run at higher speeds than a scraping body would allow. I live where there are a lot of rough roads and lickin asphalt doesn't work at 85 MPH. Everyone to their own---BUT the FORD comment is UNFORGIVEABLE, unless you happen to own a Toyota and can't recognize a GM product to save your life.

Re: Any pictures of ground effects installed?
i don't like em. personally i compare that to clear tail lights. GROSS! no jap crap on my american chevy please!

Re: Any pictures of ground effects installed?
I like them, That might "fix" some issues we in the rust belt have.
Does a Landcruiser FJ62 count as a toyota?? That's my DD @ 270K still ticking. The engine is/was a chevy 250. Clear lights not my cup-0-tea. But some pink double wipers.... yeh baby! bob |

Re: Any pictures of ground effects installed?
I used to drive Fords religiously, however I feel that my GM is better all around, even though I have those gross items on the truck. I can assure you the ground effects are not something that all would want, but I do get a lot of comments (in the psoitive since) about them. I guess there are a few of us that can stand them. They are defintiely something a true Redneck or hill billy would have, so I am somewhere in between them and you guys. OH yeah, 8" snow and then it stopped.

Re: Any pictures of ground effects installed?
Maybe I am the odd ball here, but I have to say I don't mind them too much. I think that if they are done right, they do not look too bad. In the case of piecesparts' truck, I think it looks good.

Re: Any pictures of ground effects installed?
I have you beat on class attendance....I WAS the seventh grade in my school (Matfield Green, Kansas). I and the three eighth graders went on a class trip with the teacher in VW bug to Oklahoma City. I am doing my best to get away from that part of my life. My Senior class in High School ( Good Ol Chase County High --Cottonwood Falls--not far from Council Grove) had 28 people and the largest part of them have passed on already. I now live in Lebo, Ks about 17 miles East of Emporia on I-35. I picked this so I could build a shop and live where no city ordinances would bother me. I am an Operations Shift Manager at the Nuclear Plant by Burlington. My only saving grace was that my father used to race motorcycles and run a garage in the early years and I got hooked on horsepower and going faster than a Hay truck.

Re: Any pictures of ground effects installed?
So do the ground effects completely cover the rocker panels?
About how much farther do they hang down than the rockers themselves? |
Re: Any pictures of ground effects installed?
might as well buy some 10 inch daytons and some curb finders while your at it
|
Re: Any pictures of ground effects installed?
First of all the ground effects are EVEN with the body lines at the bottom, The piece that is behind the rear wheel may taper down just a little below the actual fender edge, but it is not appreciable. These things are very much like the Camaro RS effects and work very well for keeping crud off of my paint. Second, "g goble1967", if you know what 10 daytonas and curb finders are then you are probably in that era of those that run them. Heck, I may even have a Coffee Can muffler behind the 400 horses under the hood. I will admit, that this undoubtedly is not what you want on "your" beater/daily driver. So what is your vision of an "Old Schooler" of a truck? Maybe I can find something about it that will warrant a few comments (positive or negative). When I purchased the ground effects, I felt that I did something different, and apparently I did just that. What do you think? Oh, by the way I am betting that you will love the next one that I'm building, just as much, it is a 68 Chevy C-10 Chop Top with a late model LS-1 motor. Have a "Nice Day, Irving".....
