heater core

I have a crate 350 I put in my 1972 truck One of the heater hoses goes to the right side of the radiator. I am thinking about hooking the other side to the water pump instead of the intake manifold. Has anyone done this? Will it work ok?

Re: heater core

The water pump connection is the return from the heater, as is the radiator connection. It might circulate if the water level is high enough in your radiator, but wouldn't be hot enough. I'm not saying it wouldn't work, but it wouldn't work right. Frank

Re: heater core

Like Frank says, the water pump and radiator fittings are both return. The hot coolant is pumped out of the fitting on the intake. In most cases the return line goes to the w/pump in non a/c trucks, and to the radiator in trucks with a/c.
