Wanted in NorCAL 3/4 ton 4x4 front axle
 

Hi All,

Starting to collect parts for the 4x4 burb, and I am looking to conver the 67 front drum brake dana44 axle to a later year front axle. Looking for 71 on up 3x4 ton disc brake front axle with 4:11 gearing. Anyone have any leads in Northern California, please let me know. Local yards are asking for $500 plus..... Pick-N-Pull has them for $200 when you find them...

Hey John,

About a month ago I went to a junk yard in Oakley. There was a 67 4x4 that had an exterior fire. From the paint it looked like a really nice truck. I don't know if it was a 3/4 ton axle, but definetly a 4x4. Tri County recyclers 5740 Main Street Oakley 679 8998. If you need some held let me know. I live near by.

the one at tri county is a 3/4 ton,i looked at it a while back too. no idea on gear ratio though. they did have a couple other 3/4 tons out in the back if they didn't crush them. if you call out there, ask for Dave or Steve and say you are a friend of mine, we buy from them quite often at the shop i work in. i also buy from them for myself and they are always fair on their prices-- usually much better than pick-n-pull.

John, I'll suggest that you hunt Craigslist & local classifieds and locate a 73 to early 80's 3/4 project or rust-bucket part out truck. It will have everything you need except brake booster. You could also luck into a newer tranny and NP 205 and single driveline with the right truck. I just swaped in a 75 K20 front axle into my 67... no hunting for steering parts. The power steering box is the same as a 71-72 4x4. I'm also getting the pads/shock mounts re-located on the 14 bolt FF rear so I don't have to hassle with bearing & brake supply issues for a Eatons.

Found a 86 corp 10 bolt with 4:11 including springs, ubolts, and front swaybar for $100....

u have a exta set of front springs? Got a broken leaf in one of my packs.
