Restarting project
1 Attachment(s)
Well, the 5 plus year saga is about to take a turn toward progress. I've got two weeks off and all of the paint supplies to finally get her painted. I hope to update regularly and take plenty of pictures. The picture below is how I started today. I've got just a little bit of block sanding and priming left to do. I hope to give her one last all-over priming tomorrow. The color will be SILVER soon. Later.

Re: Restarting project
Tuesday 12/20
Well I worked all day blocking spots on both the hood and truck itself. I gave it a few coats of red-oxide primer and then slicked it up with 400 grit. After that I saw a few spots that I thought needed some putty, so I wiped those. I didn't take any pictures since it doesn't look any different then where I started yesterday. I plan to block the spots from today and give her one last all-over prime. After that I'll slick her up and wash her down. I hope to have everything ready for spraying on Thursday. If I don't, I probably won't get her painted till early next week. I need to be able to watersand the day after I paint, and I can't work on Christmas Eve (Wives:crazy: ). I plan on working my tail off to get her sprayed before Christmas. We will see. Later |
Re: Restarting project

Captain's Log Day 900
Today was similar many. After driving 1.5 hours to the shop (Atlanta Traffic:barf: ) I began by blocking spot putty. I then spot primed and then sanded. I gave the truck, hood, and cowl panel a light coat of primer. Found a spot on the fender that needed some attention (Can't believe we missed) and sanded the window frame. I had already done some work on the frame before so it was basically just sand and prime. I water-sanded with 400 grit and then washed the whole thing down. The best news of the day is that it is parked in the paint booth awaiting silver tomorrow. If all goes well should have some nice pictures tomorrow. The first picture is basically where I started today, the second is me doing what I've been doing most lately (Notice the board T-Shirt), and last is kind of dark but it is the washed blazer before we moved to the paint booth. Krue - Canton is about 30 miles north of Atlanta near Woodstock and Kennesaw. Jake - No I'm working at a buddy's bodyshop using the professional stuff. I'm not the professional and I get a lot of help from my friends. |

Day #901 - A GOOD DAY
I slept last night but only a few hours and I was at the shop before anyone else. below and in the next few posts, there are some pictures of today's progress. Everything went smoothly today so I'll cut through the talk and get to the pictures. BTW - She's still in the booth and on the ground so better pics will have to wait till tomorrow. |

Last one tonight - Hi HO SILVER!!
Tomorrow I'll try to get the innerfenders painted and get engine compartment cleaned up. I'd like to get the fenders lined-up and the hood on as soon as possible. I'll be happy just to get the tape off, wheels and tires on, and some pictures outside. We'll see. |
