this is a bench out of a 68 c-30, he says it folds forwards unlike most c10/20/30 seats, is it even original? the foam is in excellent condition which is why i want it. does the shape of the seat look the same as a 71/72 bench? i want to recover it with a new blue 71/72 seat cover. also will a 68 seat bolt directly in place on a 72 or will i have to drill new holes.

any idea?

I am 99% sure that upholstery for 71/72 will fit that '68 seat. LMC claims it will (for whatever their opinion is worth). You won't have to drill holes.

Looks like a '68 seat too. Hinge area looks like mine anyway.

it should recover and bolt in fine, the 67 that my dad has folds too, the bolts that come downward from the back of the seat just go into holes in the bottom seat. Other than that, I'm pretty sure the parts are the same.

That looks exactly like my '67 seat. It folds forward. The two bolts on the rear portion of the hinge are to prevent the seat from folding (mine had a wing nut on each bolt to restrict the folding.

These are helpful if you stop quickly and don't like the seat to move with you :-)

I was talking with a company that makes seat covers and was asking them about I had heard that certain seat covers will not fit all bench seats the same way. They said that there is a certain year or two that the seat is different. They were working on which seat it is. It fits everywhere but in the bottom back of the seat. She thought it was the 67 bench, but not sure.

No it will not fit properly. 71-72 seats were different in the bottoms than the 67-70 seats. They were foams bottoms and the older ones had the springs.

Also, all the repros are for fixed seats, there is a portion of vynal that will cover your hinge.

I just picked up a bench seat out of a truck
and I was just outside looking at it, but it won't tilt forward. There was no front end on the truck to tell me what year this is, but if it won't tilt does that mean it is out of a 71-72?

no, it means it is out of any year. I have seen '67's through '72's, and have yet to see (other than that pic) one that tilts forward from the factory.
