New Suburban owner

Hello everyone. Long time lurker, first time poster. So I thought I would start off with some tough questions. I own a 1988 2wd half ton burban I want to do a 3/4ton frame 4x4 swap with a duramax motor. I am a long time Cummins fan and had a 96 cummins ram. Great motor. But I was thinking, the duramax would make this truck a great hauler for toys and family and prolly last a very very long time. The Duramax weighs about 200lbs about 800lbs less then the Cummins and is also smaller. Plus its already in other chevy trucks. What do you guys think about this idea. Can the 3/4ton frame handle the motor. I would of course box in the frame and do other structural work. Should be an awesome project. MMM TWIN TURBO DURAMAX:metal:

Sounds like a plan. Just as food for thought, I believe the center hump for the tranny is different (more flat) for the 2wd burbs than the 4x4 burbs (more rounded). I just thought I'd mention for clearance reasons.

Is the frame different starting in 88 for the suburban. I though I read somewhere that it was? I have pics. Just have to get them hosted some where.

Got, they are posted now.
