New - Magnaflow Exhaust Kit

New kit for our 67-72's, add is a misprint on the 66, they were in my
buddy's shop the other day and this was in the New catalog, it wont
be that expensive, but it is all SS, 2.5" Dia, and Mandrel Bent :c2:

*This is a 2wd kit, others are soon to follow, according to there Rep.

Magnaflows are my new favorite sounding muffler. I'm certainly not spending $600+ for their kit (although it does look good!)

Everyone missed this part, and believe me it may not be your cup of tea,
but I have SS mufflers only, 2.5" Aluminized pipes, no X pipe, & mine was
almost $500 w/ tax, this is supposed to be priced in that range, for show
trucks, all SS everything, and of course it's Mandrel bent, I'd buy it, jmho.

*In comparison, the LMC kit is $200, but you get what you pay for ;)

what's the benefit of the x-pipe? That kit does seem pretty expensive.

Better Flow = Increased Performance, I used to work at this shop part time
for 3 years, it was a blast learning about different grades of pipe, mufflers,
and tips, how long they last, how fast they rust, the funny part is when you
start pricing all of the components of this kit from others like Jeg's or Summit,
the x-pipe in SS is anywhere from $100-$200 by itself, then SS mufflers, &
then all of the pipes are SS to, I could not buy it for less than $500, and of
course Mandrel bent pipes have reduced corner galling, from normal benders
which also gives you better flow, a standard bender loses 2-5% in the curve.

Re: New - Magnaflow Exhaust Kit

That's a nice system! The price is good for stainless. If I was going to keep a truck and drive it a lot...that is the way to go.
I am wanting to know if the header pipes attach to ramhorns...bolt on and go or ??? I assume it is for SB not BB.
Where do the tailpipes exit? They need to offer both out the side and out the back.
Truckin Mag says that 2.25" mandrel exhaust will flow as much as a 2.50" muffler shop system. That's a lot of loss from those flattened bends.

It's also only $496 from Summit... heckuva deal if you ask me. Around here, you'd spend $500 pretty easily on a dual exhaust setup with crimped bends and cheapy fake flowmaster mufflers.

I would buy it, if I could figure out how low it hangs. I also want to run through the crossmembers. I do want stainless though. I wonder if they're making headers?

Man....I was skeptical about the LMC (HeartThrob) kit, but for the money...I'm satisfied.

interesting and about time, would like to see one installed. I have used complete flowmaster kits on two different vehicles and they were the most complete fit and finish of any aftermarket item I have used on any of my vehicles, worth the extra money in every way you look at it

i have always found it to be cheaper just to take it to a muffler shop and have them fab something up it is usually cheaper and you dont have to do any work yourself

Re: New - Magnaflow Exhaust Kit

The kit looks good! I just brought "the man" out of retirement to run exhaust on my C/10. He has at least 30 years in the business and takes his time. He ran the exhaust on my K/10 several years ago when he still ran a shop. He ran aluminumized pipe for me above the trans xmember and through the ECE xtreme drop trailing arm Xmember. He also managed to get over the rear end with a 6" drop (some people have said this is a problem). It's not pieced together either. I have one piece of pipe from the manifold to the muffler and one piece of pipe from the muffler to the back of the truck. It's not pieced together all over the place. He also welded in a H pipe for me. I provided the mufflers and he did everything for $220 bucks! I couldn't be happier!:metal:

It's on my list, a very long list, wish they would have had it last summer
when I did my 4wd I spent almost that much and have aluminized pipes.

I'd could replace my Thrush for 20yrs and not spend $600 bucks!!! Exhaust and air filters are way over rated.

Looks like a nice kit, I would like to hear it hooked up to a SB Chevy, deffinately plan to go with the SS pipe when the truck goes back together I plan to keep it forever so the exhaust might as well be up to the task.

Re: New - Magnaflow Exhaust Kit

im running magnalfow universal 2.5" bullet style mufflers on my 97 suburban but its a true dual setup and it has 2 mufflers its loud but sounds great. spent like 125 on mufflers+ tips came out to like 175 then to get the pipes bent and all welded up and installed was like 325 so looks like right around 500 and thats basically muffler back... this is a pretty nice setup.
