Extended cab trucks

I have seen pictures here of the extended cab trucks made by the aftermarket companies but they have all been 80's trucks and as far as I can tell 1/2 tons.
So I spy this on Craigslist the other day, about 2 miles from the house:
http://seattle.craigslist.org/car/124877726.html
1977 extended cab and its a 3/4 ton.
Went and looked at it just to get a look at it, the guy didn't mind. I told him I would post something about it here for him.
Decent shape except it needs a column. Is starting to bubble ever so slightly on the rocker. Some weird rust bubbles in in the tailgate, behind driver door, etc.
Odometer said 99,000 and the dash pad was in real nice shape so who knows?
The guy has been using it for dry storage so its packed full of junk. Couldn't see the back seat area.

To bad that isn't closer to colorado...course the wife would kill me but when it involves rare bowtie trucks i'm a sucker.

I have never seen an 73-80 done this way. I've only seen one in my lifetime...it was about 6 years back in a boneyard in phx. It was an 87 extended cab. Every since i've told myself if i see another 87 extend cab i'll have to rescue it...

Looks like it started life as a Suburban to me . It has the stiffening ribs on the roof that I doubt would have been added if it started life as a truck . Still a little interesting . Frank

I'm not sure if there used to be some sort of headliner but you can see where they did all the spot welding on the inside of the roof. Looks pretty bas actually but if you covered it with a headliner it would be fine.
If I didn't already have a driveway full of headaches I'd do something to pick it up for a driver.

I didn't notice the ribs before? I think I would have when I looked at it, maybe its an illusion of the picture?

N2TRUX, I thought you had posted a few different pictures of the extended cabs before? You seem to be a library of different pictures???
Out of all the pictures I've never seen a '70's body though.
The rear window on the one you posted looks like it fits better with the rest of the truck tha nthe alngled one in the ad.
BTW, he reposted it today for $950.

The cab looks great on that gold truck - very well done. But visually what it needs to look right is to whack 6" out of the box between the bumper and the back wheels. There's too much over hang - just like a f#rd shortbox has.
That's something F*rd has never got right. Trucks just look wrong when there's 2' of box behind the back tire.

Yeah I have posted them a couple of times. I think I got all of the pics from Capt Kaos. I do have a pretty extensive collection of truck pics. Any time I see something I like I save it to a file. I try to keep my files organized so I can locate certain pics when I want.

Here's another one I forgot about. Probably the nicest one I have seen....

Is it a cut down long bed?

That would be my guess. The box on the gold truck has the extra length behind the back wheels like a long box would. The overall length of the truck looks like it is lwb.

It looks like the 70's has more cab, but less bed. I assumed it was just a swb and a custom cab on a lwb frame but I guess they did cut down the long bed?
