seatbelt question
Hi all. I was wondering if anyone has tried to dye seatbelts. I have a chance to get a set of retractors that are really nice and would like to dye them black. I need to change the color of the belt and the plastic cover (blue to black).
I already have the three belts and buckles that are black. Anybody that has had experience with this let me know how they turned out and what products you used. Thanks in advance Jason |
Re: seatbelt question
I dyed a set one time, they looked fine but they were really stiff when I was done. I didn't care, I didn't use them (probably not the best idea), they were just for looks.

Re: seatbelt question
As far as the plastic housing--- I changed a set of red to black. If you can find the color you want I am sold on the Duplicolor Engine Enamel w/ceramic 500 degrees for painting plastic. Wash the plastic with soap and brush - dry thoroughly.

Re: seatbelt question
The belt it's self... I don't recomend coloring. I did a set, and after about a year, they started fading to blue again, and it took me a little while to figure why my clothes were getting dirty.

Re: seatbelt question
The belt can be removed from the retractor and an aftermarket set installed. A while back I had a thread that said " Backward seatbelts."
