Big Block or Small Block?

Hey guys!

A dude I know gave me the number of a guy selling an 87 2wd 1 ton single rear wheel crewcab truck with a TBI 454 / TH400 combo in it. He wants 500 bucks for it.

Would it be worth the effort to drop that big block into my shortbox step-side truck? I don't plan to keep the truck after this summer, and I want to make a quick return on it (paid 350 for it, then spent another 150 on an engine).

If I did drop the big block in, would it significiantly improve the worth of the truck?

I personally don't really want a big block in either of my vehicles. A small block makes more than enough power for what I use my vehicles for, and the gas costs would be killer! So, if it wouldn't make a significant improvement in the worth of the step side truck, then I don't wanna bother wasting my time and effort :P

Hey I know what you can do, buy the truck, then ship the motor down here and I'll pay you back.

Russ,

I wouldn't go thru all that work if your gonna get rid of the truck any way's and it wont make the worth of the truck go up cuz it wasnt a factory BB truck and as you said with fuel prices people will shy away from a BB over a SB.

What you may consider is buying that BB/Trany combo for 500 bux thats a good deal if the pair are not worn out and offer it to the person that buys the truck for an extra 800 bux and tell 'em you can have a BB for it and i'll even load it in the bed fer ya:metal: let them make the call and do the work to install it. and make a quick 300 bux:metal:

I'd buy it but it sounds like you have a few too many projects as it is. I suggest you just pick this one up to re-sell at a later time for twice the buying price. :metal:
