local boneyard has a 72 ? C50
I drove past a local boneyard today and spotted a large truck C50 with 427 emblems on the hood peeked into the cab hoping for a tach dash all I saw was bare bones truck with air pressure guage where the vaccum guage is normally in the clusters for our trucks if anyone is interested in parts off this old girl I will go back next week have no idea if the motor is even in the truck but it looked complete otherwise if anyone needs something post here Mike

Re: local boneyard has a 72 ? C50
The 427 badgews aren't like what comes on our trucks... just FYI...
If you have the time and desire.... see if you can jerk the crank outa that sucker, it should be a steel crank, worth a couple bucks on e-bay. (By a couple...think hundreds) |
Re: local boneyard has a 72 ? C50
That 427 should be a 10.200" deck to. Also heavier casting around the bores good for at least .100 over bore jobs. 4 1/4 throw and .100 over = 505 C.I.

Could you take pics? How bad is the whole thing?
I am looking for a slightly "heavier" project. I have all the holmes flatbed wrecker gear from my dad's 71 C30 that I ripped apart because the frame and cab were gone. |
