This is the second one of these tranny's I've had in my S-10. Believe it or not I think they would actually hold up pretty good.
Then first had a bad rear seal that I didn't find until it was to late and it basically burnt up. (About 1 round trip to Britian South Dakota...1400 miles.)
This one I got a little mean with it on the drag strip and I'm pretty sure I broke a shift fork. (Hey, I was lined up with a built 5.0 Mustang with nitrous...:hm: ) LOL My 350 isn't a Nascar engine by any means but it's no slouch either! Haha

Hannibal? Not to far from me then. I'm just west of Kahoka! Actually in Medil if you've heard of it. Population 100? maybe.

I bought my 93 from just south of Hannibal last year.

If you're ever up this way stop by. My house isn't hard to find, just look for the mailbox sitting on top of a small block chevy! ;)

Thanks.
Now this goes to proove that the s10 tranny's aren't that bad. it took all that 350 had to break it. and it sounds as if you broke the shift fork with the speed shifting - not the engine's torque.

HMMMMMM..... I may be shifting my mod back to the s10 tranny.

Nah, they're not that bad if ya treat them a little nice. I don't know what would happen if a person had good traction though. S-10 has a one-legger rear end with 3.08 gears. I had the right rear tire aired down to 12lbs and a thick rubber bed mat in the bed and it would still just smoke the right tire anywhere through 2nd gear if I touched the secondaries.
My best speed was 76.07 babying it for traction. (1/8 mile)
I always thought drag strips had better traction than a normal road....

If you're thinking about a 5 speed trans, a friend of mine has one out of a 1/2 ton truck for sale. It's the same as the S-10 version except they have a bigger output shaft, (TH400 style), and a 30% overdrive as opposed to the S-10's 20% overdrive.
I'm gonna be posting it for sale shortly, (supposed to already done it...)

I think you should, that way you can find out for yourself. I've seen so many posts by you about the T5, that you should have easily convinced yourself by now that it will hold up just fine. Let us know how it works out -
