Can anyone ID this hub cap? (its not a truck cap)
1 Attachment(s)
I think it is a 60's style 14" cap. I have a full set of them I want to sell but not sure what they were off of.
Thanks for any help, Joe |

Re: Can anyone ID this hub cap? (its not a truck cap)
Chevy used em' on several mid 60's cars. The aftermarket mag cover was patterned after it.

Re: Can anyone ID this hub cap? (its not a truck cap)
They were used on early Chevelles, ElCaminos and Camaros.

Re: Can anyone ID this hub cap? (its not a truck cap)
Hmmm, if they're 14" they would fit my wheels....
Let me know what you're asking. |

Re: Can anyone ID this hub cap? (its not a truck cap)
64-66 Chevelle,I believe.
|
Re: Can anyone ID this hub cap? (its not a truck cap)
They were part of the '66 Chevelle SS 396 option package. Rallye wheels didn't really hit the scene until '67.

I`ve seen them on the first two Chevelles, too.I was going to say pre-rallye wheels(67)only.Maybe they weren`t original on 64/65s,but I know I`ve seen them with them.

Re: Can anyone ID this hub cap? (its not a truck cap)
Don't know if chevelle ever used a 14" rim. Maybe a 69 camaro. Go to http://www.camaros.net/ and they'll know.

Re: Can anyone ID this hub cap? (its not a truck cap)
Hi Joe
Those are GM accessory wheel covers and they are in the GM accessory brochures for sure in 67 but I'm sure they were available in other years in that era. . My brother had a set on his near new 67 Impala SS back then and thats where I saw them in his accessory brochure that was in with the owners manual. They were "mag" style wheel covers to simulate the aftermarket mag wheels of the 60's. They made them in 13", 14", for sure and I think 15" but were popular on Chevelles, Impalas, Camaros, and the 13" was for the Corvair. Mark |

Mark, Any idea what they are worth?? I was going to put them on ebay.
Thanks for all the replys!!! |
Re: Can anyone ID this hub cap? (its not a truck cap)
I've seen sets sell on eBay for as little as $50 and as high as $250 for a mint set. Can't really tell from this one picture but it appears they have been painted black at one time. They were chrome cap and argent finish like the Chevelle posted above. I was looking for a set for my 70 Impala when I got it but went the Cragar SS route with 15" and BFG tires.
Good luck. Mark |
