Best tire choice for 17 x 8 rims ???

I can get some 17 x 8 rims that will fit my '70 truck fairly cheap, 6 lug correct center hole and backspacing. I am looking for a tire between 28" to 31" tall in a passenger car type tire, that is a common size and easy to find and fairly priced. I'm going for the more rim/less tire look but not to an extreme extent. Any suggestions ???

I run a Nitto NT450 tire on the front of my Blazer. It's a 255/50-17 on a 17x8 wheel. I don't think they are within your 28"-31" height requirement but the are very affordable.

Here's one of my past daily drivers.

I ran the tire that lolife99 mentioned on the front. They are shorter than you're wanting. In the back though, I ran 275/50/17 Nitto NT450. That is a 28 inch tall tire.

I think the 26 inchers in the front and the 28's in the back work well together. All 4 wheels were 17x8.

I run 29" tall tires on my 1996.
255/60/17 on 17x8 front
275/55/17 on 17x9.5 rear (I wish they made a 295/50/17).
Pirelli Scorpion Zero tires, $129 front and $154 rear.

www.tirerack.com is a great place to look at lots of different tires.

Mine are 17x9s, but thought it might be a good reference point. I run 285/60 Kumhos (yes, I felt bad putting imported tires on it). They look great with an aggressive tread pattern, have a stiff sidewall and good load rating, and were cheap!
