Re: Vin location help

Isn't it also located on the driverside frame rail in the front near the PS pump?

I'm also interested to see a pic of a VIN# in the location mentioned by byrd.

on my 71 its in the middle of the frame, you cant see it with the cab on....maybe.... you can use a mirror to look at it

Re: Vin location help

Jamis, might just take a second look---this is where the frame sections were stamped with their individual part number.
The complete VIN # to include the ID is only on the vin plate. The production number without the the first 3-4 letters/numbers is stamped on the frame next to the steering box. I have also see the Vin production numbers stamped on the top of the firewall and written on the firewall in chalk above the heater.

Re: Vin location help

I have seen the VIN in the location jamis points it out, however, it is supposed to be up by the gear box also. The frame part number I've always seen on the verticle portion of the frame, not on the horizontal, but I've only looked for that number on longhorns, never on a normal frame.

ANDY... DONT YOU MEEN ON THE TOP HORIZONTAL FLANGE OF THE FRAME & NOT ON THE VERTICAL?? (THATS WHERE YOU ARE POINTING IN THE PICTURE) ;) JOHN

Re: Vin location help

I am talking about the verticle part having the part number, and on the horizontal part, where being pointed to, having the partial VIN.
