To check for an exhaust leak, you can use a lenght of heater hose as a stethascope. If there is a leak, you will hear it....69 longhorn.

If you installed a new camshaft,,you would need to adjust the rockers being that you had everything apart to install the cam. If you installed new lifters with that cam (advisable) maybe one is NFG. Try and readjust them all now that you have had it running.

haynes manuals list the perfect steps to adjusting hydraulic lifters, the whole deal is to adjust each lfter when it is at the bottom of travel in its bore, tighten nut until rocker tip just contacts the valve stem and zero slack but no preload, and then turn one full turn on the nut, a bunch of the lifters wil be at the bottom of their bores and only need to turn engine a little a couple times to get them all.

0 lash +1 full turn is the proper way, but people will argue with these GM specs. 0+1 sets the tappet of the lifter in the center rof travel in the body of the lifter which is correct and never needs adjustment ever again unless you modify valve train again later. the threads on the studs and nuts are very fine threaded, a full turn is just a little tighter

Im one that will argue with GM specs! Comp cams ,& many others will state 1/2 turn after zero on a highperf set up. I have run them as loose as 1/8 turn, & pulled several hundred more rpms from a stock valve train(its in how to hotrod the smallblock chev). The proper way to set preload (by cam man specs),is to have .030-.045 pre load on the plunger........1 full turn is fine on your daily driver, but not on something that you plan to wind up.......69 longhorn.
