Re: duel tank covers?
Not to get far off topic, but can someone post pics of the tanks and where they are on the truck? My 68 I bought has the doors, but no tanks under the bed that I can see. Also, it doesn't look like theres much room for a filler neck inside the two layers of the bed. The truck had to have come with them, because the fuel valve is in the floor of the driverside of the cab. The truck is a wood bed, also. All help is appreciated.

Here's some pic's from when I removed the dealer installed tanks from my truck.
The tanks are still in there in the 1'st pic. |
Re: duel tank covers?
Thanks for the pics. I believe my doors open to the side, not down. I believe they have 8 or more rivets per door also.

Re: duel tank covers?
I've got them on mine. I was pretty happy about the extra fuel capacity til I read about the side impact danger. Being outside the frame rails makes for an unpleasant expirience if you get t-boned and the tank ruptures. Now I'm thinking I'll drop them and put a blazer tank in back along with the behind the seat tank. 21 gallons at 10 mpg just doesn't give me enuf range. So when I go into the mts. I have to carry extra gas cans. Either way mine are both empty now.
And you are right about being a tight fit. Ther's room for the nozzle, but not much room for the gas cap. |
