IS a 72 chevy grille to big for dhl to ship.Also has anyone had experaince with dhl if so was it good or bad.

I shipped one from Nashville to Raleigh for like $11 three weeks ago.

No problems at all. In fact it made it the next day and I didn't pay for NextDay.

cost me like $60 maybe $50 it was paked in a very hevy wood create and lots of bubble wrap
from jersey to cali the creat wieged 60 lbs

$11 to ship a grill, wow. I never have shipped one that cheap, Ks to Cali or Ks to Flo $35-40 usually

yellow69 shipped that to me, it made it quick, no damage (other than the little that was there). I use DHL to ship just about everything. I sent a pair of complete axleshaft assemblies (sans brake drums) 84 lbs in 2 days from Houston to Arizona...for $40. DHL rocks, the others suck.

BTW yellow, DHL FINALLY got my account straightened out! It took them more than 3 weeks! So their technical support is a little slow.

Just want to share a shipping experience not involving DHL though...
I had a newly chromed '72 GMC grill shipped from L.A. Ca. to Md. via UPS and the plating shop packed it in a cardboard box and foam. The grill was bent in shipment. Pack your grill for shipment in a box framed with wood regardless of the shipper. Overkill is better than disappointment.

I never shipped a grill. I did a bumper a few years ago from NJ to Texas. It was about 40 to 50 through UPS. I just dropped it off at one of those package stores and had them wrap it.

The few times I used DHL I was impressed with the low prices. :)

DHL is awesome. I shipped an NOS 69-70 grill from Texas to Kansas for less than $16, insured for $500. I shipped another NOS 71-72 grill from Texas to North Carolina for less than $18, insured for $500.

I put two bicycle boxes together to ship each of them. Fit perfect.

I just got a estimate quote for shipping a grill, guessing size 68x23x5 to Dallas Texas (just because I had that zip infront of me) from DHL and it said $27, I have an account with them too. Something doesn't add up. Not trying to argue, just wondering how you guys can ship that much cheaper?

Randy: I know that box that I sent one of my grills in was 77x22x8 and it weighed 23 lbs. I just went to DHL's website and entered that information and it came up with a shipping cost of like $54. All I know is I paid $15, plus another $3 or so to insure it for $500. It was going Texas to Kansas. Basically the same package to North Carolina was even cheaper than that. The lady in line behind me actually asked me if she heard that right. I had the same guy both times. Could be he doesn't know what he's doing.

Where do you go to ship DHL? I've not seen a shipping place that uses them.:(

In Austin, I go to the DHL facility. I'm sure they have a distribution center/counter in Dallas somewhere.

I love them. I have an account there, they are open late, i'll just call and tell them to come to my house 9or where ever I am at) and pick up my package...
I sent GMC JUNKIE a 55 pound tool box, from central Ohio to the southern edge of Georgia.. cost me somethign like 25 bucks. I just dropped off a 125 pounds Eaton drop out center sedction... shipped to Tampa 50 bucks.
Never had anything damaged.
UPS has damaged EVERYTHING i have ever recieved from them.

They have at least 2 large terminals or hubs here in columbus, I'm sure if you went to http://www.dhl-usa.com/home/home.asp you'll find a locator someplace on there.
