Tailgate latch options on stepside
 

anyone know of somthing besides the chains that are used to latch the tailgate, anyone make steel style latches for the fleetside, anything besides chains??

There's a thread somewhere showing a tailgate modification using metal jointed rods like on standard fleetsides I think out of a Nissan if I rmemeber right.

Not sure if you are looking for a tailgate or just the latch system. We manufacture a complete tailgate with latches, handle, and the metal straps that hold it level in the open position. It uses "bear-claw" type rotary latches, has a single handle in the inside center of the tailgate, will slam closed, and the straps fold up inside the ends of the tailgate when closed. I'll look for something on my next trip to the junkyard. But it's not real high on my list of priorities. It functions fine and it's kinda hidden inside the bed till I go posting pics of it on the internet.
