Ign switch
Is there a chance that with a bad ign. switch, running the truck with it's lights on would kill the battery? (battery not recharging) I have changed the alt. and reg.

I guess it could be. You've got a leak someplace. Lights aren't controlled by the ignition switch though.

Attach a temperary (or permanent) volt meter to a hot keyed connection at the fuse box and monitor it while your driving. Should read 13.8 to 14.5 with or without the lights on while your running, if not your still having charging problems.

Hey Bouncy...
MY lights ARE controlled by the ignition. Actually, mine are controlled by SEVERAL things. Ever turn the light switch knob and have your head and parking lights grow dimmer ??? lol ------------------ '70 jimmy 4x4 '98 chevy zr2 (the misses' transpo) '65 stang '81 shovelhead contact me: email--showme219@aol.com |
Check the dimmer switch on the floor. Sometimes the plug is poor condition...or the switch is bad. Its a quick easytbing to check,,.. might not be the problem but it eliminates one of the possibilities.

...you got some electrical issues on that thing. I hope you have a fire ext. in your truck...maybe 2. Trust me, being in the middle of nowhere on the side of the road with 6 foot flames will put a damper on your day. esp if you are about 1300 miles from home.
