Aftermarket Tach... Please Help!
 

I have a aftermarket tach i just bought for my 73... has points ignition... how do i hook it up..!!?? :(

i know there are four wires... red is 12v.. where would that go... then black is ground...white is light, where does that go??? and the green is tach signal from engine... im not that mechanicaly inclined sorry can someone help??

the white can go under the dash to the headlight switch, green goes to the coil (i think) and the red will go to a power source that is hot after ignition switch is turned on a test light will be helpful. best of luck and if i am wrong someone outthere please assist in the answer to this b/c im not to familiar to points ignitions. oh and dont leave your ignition switch on for very long or you will be changing points as well.

Above post is correct--
red: switched 12v source (hot with key on)
white: headlight switch (12v for backlight)
black: ground
green: coil

and since i have points i connect to the negative side of coil... correct?
