need help with brake booster measurement

Hey guys, I’m about to go ballistic
I cant figure out which piece is wrong, is the brake booster the wrong one or are these brackets too short. I think its the brackets. I figure the correct ones should be about 5" long
Of coarse keeping with my history of being a retard I didn’t bother fitting the parts till after all the prep and paintwork was done.
Ohhhhh I forgot to mention this is a 71

3/4 ton correct? Are those the brackets you had on it before painting?

1971 1/2 ton. That pic of all those boosters is not mine.
I don’t have the original one. That’s where my confusion is, if I have the right bracket or not.

Thanks for digging for that pic. What I really need is a measurement of the bracket. The one I have is 3 1/2"

This is a 11" booster from a 3/4 ton , the bracket is 5 and 1/8 inches. Puts the master cyl pointing slightly down.

Thanks John

Does anyone with a 1/2 ton get the same measurement as John?

I went to a diffrent parts store just to check if the booster was wrong ...... looked at one from a diffrent rebuilder and it was the same as mine.

I know there are delco and bendix boosters but I was told it only effects the master cyl. In other words a delco master must be used with a delco booster.

Jamis - Looks like you have a 3/4T booster with 1/2T brackets. I have both sets of brackets and they are about 2 inches different where you measured. As mentioned above the 3/4T brackets place the MC at a slight downward angle.

Re: need help with brake booster measurement

1967-70 trucks with drum brakes use Bendix boosters, and 71-72 trucks with disc brakes use Delco-Morane boosters. The brackets are different between Bendix and Delco boosters.

Re: need help with brake booster measurement

The mystery has been solved.
These brackets are for a 67 drum/drum booster setup.
Thanks for all your help..... :)
