Added A Blazer To The Fleet
I've been on the board for a year and I have FINALLY got a 72 Blazer for a DD. I LOVE the turning radius on this thing. I feel like a dog chasing his tail! Here are the things I would like to do first with this bugger. First: the gas tank leaks (fiberglass, I think) when I fill it all the way up. It is not coming from any hoses. Is there an overflow or something? Very puzzling. Also, does anybody make side steps that mount directly to the frame that don't look cheap? I don't want running boards or full length bars, I just want a step to climb in on. Lastly, does anybody make a bolt on 2" receiver hitch for this machine? I run a parts store and I can't find ANYTHING for it in MY company. A part # would be GREAT. Thanks, Mike

Yes, there is a vent line (several lines depending on your tank set up) It's most likely a plastic tank, those are available after market. :cong: welcome to the blazer side, enjoy the ride. :c2: |

Congrats on your new purchase. They are a lot of fun and get a lot of attention.

Re: Added A Blazer To The Fleet
The vent lines can break off up near the top of the neck. This happened on my '69. Ya gotta get the nosel down below that point and ya can't fill it up all the way up the fill neck.
There aren't any steps that bolt to the frame. If you climb under the truck and look up, you'll notice (hopefully they aren't rusted away) large, steel boxes. These are the rocker boxes and are the structural support when the top is off. What you need to do is find step loops with horizontal, flat mointing points. You can then drill a couple holes in the boxes and mount them. You'll probably need to take off the end cap of the rocker boxes. I'm not sure what all is involved here, but I'm sure the bolts won't be easy to remove. Hit them with some PB Blaster the day before. |

Re: Added A Blazer To The Fleet
Well, I am ashamed to say that I STILL have had no success with trying to post pics. I have read EVERY FAQ post, I have had people come to my house, and yet I STILL cannot post a stupid picture. All the pixels and host sites and all that stuff is truly GREEK to me. It is white with a blue interior with a big lift kit and 33s on factory rallies. How's that? I will continue to try in the future. GQ: What company is that hitch made by? Should I replace the plastic tank? Thanks for all the insight guys, this thing sure is FUN. Take care, Mike

Finally someone else who appreciates a vehicle that can be turned around in the middle of a narrow mountain road. I wish general motors would hire you.

Re: Added A Blazer To The Fleet
You can upload a program called Irfanview for free. just run a search on it You can load it from serveral sites. then just open the pictures in it , go to IMAGE and resize them...easy...
OTHER QUESTIONS. steps..anyway you do it gonna take some engineering. If you attach to rocker boxes you'll need to back up whatever you put on the inside with some body washers or I would suggest a piece of plate. If the end caps have not been off (and probably not) then I would carry around a 5 gallon bucket to step on...lol I had a Hitch on mine when I bought it, I cut it off. It had been modified and welded to the frame. Don't figure you gonna find a fit. You'll probably have to build something to attach to. Anyway good luck and have a ball....you will now have NO Disposable Income... |
Re: Added A Blazer To The Fleet
If you have windows XP you can open photos in the Microsoft photo editor. Once the photo is opened click the edit button on the top of the screen. To the right you will see resize. Once you click resize there is a number of ways to select how you want to resize your photos. I select "internet small" for my photos. Do a "save as" and you're done.
I think most newer computers have this. My two year old computer at my office has it. |
