Carb ?
Ok, it looks like I'm in the home strectch of my performance upgrades. The engine's been swapped out (and finally got the rear main seal sorted out) and yesterday, I switched over to HEI. It's running pretty good now but it still bogs slightly when I mash the pedal. I'm thinking it's time for a new carb since mine's an old as dirt Carter that is long overdue for rebuild anyways.
So what carb should I go with? I'm looking at Holley, Edelbrock and Demon but was leaning towards the Edelbrock since it should be the easiest switch with a Performer RPM intake but I've heard mixed reviews on the Edel. Also, what size? I was originally looking at 600/650cfm but then I heard somewhere that you should have 2 cfm per cubic inch of engine for a Holley style carb and 2.3 cfm per cubic inch of engine for a Q-jet style carb. So for a 350, that works out to a 700cfm Holley and @800cfm Q-jet. Anybody else ever hear of this? |
Re: Carb ?
1406 edelbrock 600cfm electric choke
1405 edelbrock 600cfm manual choke or a new holley 600 cfm |

Re: Carb ?
Thanks for the kind words! But I must admit, she looks better in the pics than she does in real life. Where have I heard that before???

Re: Carb ?
Steer WAY clear of Holley....for an everyday driver.
